who we are
Monte Fabrello is a small family farm.
The site is on a plain opposite the Gulf of Portoferraio.
It's an environmentally friendly area with an increasing growth of flora and fauna, some 100 metres from the sea. You will notice the friendliness of your hosts as soon as you arrive. The hospitality offered is essentially that of country people, hospitality and availability at all times., and there is also an opportunity to join in the general farm activities.
You are welcomed and taken care of directly by the owners.
All the flats have been converted and thoroughly restored.
Our guests have the choice to stay in two roomed flats or in single rooms with bathrooms.
The apartments have a bedroom, a bathroom with shower and a leaving room with cooking facilities and a sofa bed.
Casa Bonfiglio: The main house. This is a Tuscan house built at the beginning of the 1900's, in stone with a typical open gallery- here is where the owners live on the ground floor.
The first floor has been converted for guests and is sub-divided into two roomed flats for two or four people.
The flats aren't very big but are carefully furnished in every aspect, so they are very comfortable with everything you need in furniture and equipment. In the attic there is a double room with bathroom, and is air-conditioned.
Furthermore, our flats converted in other buildings on the farm, such as the old hayloft, are on the first floor and have all been recently restored.
The lengths of stay in high season are for a minimum of seven nights, but in low or middle season it's possible to book for weekends too (2nights).
where we are
The farm is located in Schiopparello, a small village 7 km from Portoferraio.
It has good local facilities, and from Portoferraio, is found half- way along the main road to Porto Azzurro and Capoliveri.
It is only 5 km from the famous seaside resort of Lacona, on the south side of the island, and from here there is easy access to all the places on the western side of the island.
The farm lies in front of the mountain from which it takes it's name, Monte Fabrello, and it is where Napoleon loved to hunt during his exile on the island.
It is across the road from the sea, with a good view of the Gulf of Portoferraio and the castle of Volterraio (a fortress which dates back to the 15th century). Very near is the old maritime village of Magazzini, which has a small harbour for young swimmers.
The farm is situated on a plain about 15 metres above sea level, and is, in respect of the whole island, very centrally placed, so it is well positioned for travelling all over the island, even to the furthest places.
The nearest beach is only 800 metres away, and is not crowded, even in summer, you can walk there on foot and there is a lot of parking.
There are many other beaches nearby, a few minutes away in the car, some with sand, some with black or white pebbles, and rocky beaches too. We are only 3 km from the Thermal Baths at San Giovanni.
The ferry crossing from Piombino to Portoferraio takes one hour, and it is easy to reach the farm after this. Immediately you get off the ferry take the exit in the harbour which indicates "all directions" then follow the signs to Porto Azzurro. After a series of bends (about 5 km) turn to the left at the turning for "Schiopparello-Magazzini-Bagnaia". Continue on this road for about 1 km until you see a sign with our name, and shortly after, another sign will indicate how you enter the farm.

The farm lies in the immediate vicinity of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park and is a departure point for many interesting footpaths to follow on foot or mountain bike.
On the farm we have some bicycles available and it's possible to ask for some helpful footpath guide information.
We also have an expert guide, who could, on request, take you on some enjoyable trips.
For the little ones, there is a playground with toys in the garden.
Very close to us there is a 9 hole golf course, (Acquabona Golf Club), a tennis court, horse-riding stables, and everything for water sports.
